We, at YAMAGATA INTECH, are pioneers in the field of DITA, being the first in the country to adopt DITA and CCMS (Component Content Management System) in document production methodologies. Drawing on our in-house know-how of DITA operation, we deliver professional services to support customers in their DITA implementation.
Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) is a global standard for document production processes. This XML-based standard is defined and maintained by OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards), an international consortium for the development, convergence and adoption of open standards for the global information society.
DITA not only concerns document data formats, but also covers the development, publishing, and distribution of documents. With DITA, content is fragmented into basic units, which are combined as necessary to compose a document. These units are called "topics," and the design that determines the combination of topics is called a "map."
Topics structured according to a map can be automatically typeset to generate numerous types of output, including PDF files, HTML files, HTML Help, ePUB files, and e-learning materials. Like components making up a manufactured product, topics can be reused among many different documents, allowing for a single source to be reused and published to multiple deliverables and outputs. Because of these characteristics, the application of DITA is beneficial for manufacturers that develop numerous derived models as well as those that produce multi-language documents. However many more languages need to be supported, all documents are automatically typeset based on the XML tags in target outputs. We recommend the implementation of DITA for enterprises that seek to reduce documentation costs or lead time.
